Questions? Good. I have answers.
Here are the things most people want to know before reaching out. If you don't see your question here, just ask — that's what the contact page is for.
Working Together
-
Honestly? My clients tell me it feels like working with a partner, not a vendor. I'm communicative, I hit my deadlines, and I ask the kinds of questions that make you think — because I genuinely want to understand your business before I start building anything. You'll always know where we are, what's coming next, and how to reach me. No black holes, no surprises.
-
You work with me — directly, personally, every time. I don't have a team of junior designers or account managers behind the scenes. When you hire Heather Marie Marketing, you get Heather Marie. That's the whole point.
-
Fill out the contact form and tell me a little about what you're working on. I'll read it personally and follow up within 1–2 business days to schedule a discovery call. That first conversation is free, low-pressure, and usually all we need to figure out if we're a good fit and what the right next step looks like.
-
Every project starts with a discovery call where we talk about your goals, your audience, and what you're trying to build. From there I put together a clear proposal with scope, timeline, and investment. Once you're on board, we move into strategy and design — with regular check-ins and revision rounds built in. We finish with a launch and a handoff that leaves you feeling confident, not confused.
-
I work with a limited number of clients at a time to make sure every project gets my full attention. The best way to find out about current availability is to reach out — if I'm at capacity, I'll let you know my next opening and we can plan accordingly.
Website Design
-
A basic website for a small business starts at $3,000 at Heather Marie Marketing — that includes up to 5 fully custom pages, three design consultation sessions, and three rounds of revisions. A business website with more advanced functionality (like online scheduling, a storefront, or a client directory) starts at $5,500. Both are significantly more affordable than what you'd pay at a full-service agency for comparable quality.
-
Most website projects take 4–8 weeks from kickoff to launch, depending on the scope and how quickly we can move through feedback rounds together. Larger or more complex sites may take longer. The fastest projects are usually the ones where the client comes prepared. I'll give you a clear checklist of what I need from you so nothing stalls on our timeline.
-
I use a mix of Webflow, ShowIt, and Squarespace depending on what the clients specific needs are.
That said, I specialize in Squarespace, which is an ideal platform for small businesses, service providers, and entrepreneurs. It's beautiful, easy to maintain, and doesn't require a developer every time you need to make a change. If you have a strong reason for needing a different platform, let's talk — I'm happy to discuss what makes the most sense for your specific situation.
-
Yes — and I build SEO best practices into every website from the start. That means clean site structure, optimized page titles and descriptions, fast load times, and mobile-responsive design. I also offer an SEO Starter Kit that goes deeper: on-page optimization, Google Business Profile setup, and tools to help your site get found in both traditional search and AI-driven search results. SEO is a long game, but starting strong matters.
That said, it’s up to you to help get your website ranking high and staying high – this is where a strong marketing plan comes in.
-
Absolutely — and if we build on Squarespace, it's especially easy.
Squarespace is designed for non-developers, and I provide step-by-step implementation guides with every website so you can make updates, add content, and keep things current without needing to come back to me every time. That said, I'm always available if you want ongoing support.
-
Both. Whether you're starting from scratch or need to transform something that's not working, I can help. Redesigns often move a little faster than new builds because the content and structure already exist — we're focusing on elevating what's there.
That said, I only accept redesign clients on one of the following platforms: Sqaurespace, Webflow, and ShowIt. If your current site is on a different platform, but you are fine with moving to a new platform - let’s get it done!
BRANDING & GRAPHIC DESIGN
-
A logo is a single mark. A brand identity is the complete system that surrounds it: your color palette, typography, secondary logos, icons, style guide, and the rules for how everything works together.
A logo without a brand identity is like a signature without a personality. I offer both a Branding Starter Kit and a Premium Brand Kit depending on how deep you want to go.
-
Logo design is included as part of my branding packages rather than as a standalone service – because a logo that exists without a broader brand system rarely does what it's supposed to do.
The Branding Starter Kit starts at $2,750 and includes your full brand identity system. If budget is a concern, let's talk — I can help you figure out the right starting point.
-
Yes, if the logo is strong enough to build on. I'll take an honest look at what you have and let you know whether we can work with it or whether it makes more sense to start fresh. Sometimes a small refresh is all it needs. I'll always give you my real opinion rather than just telling you what you want to hear. I always have budget in mind, and find creative solutions when needed.
-
You name it, I probably do it. I offer print ads, event collateral, social media graphics, email templates, merchandise design, pitch decks, and more.
If it needs to look good and represent a brand well, it's probably something I can help with. The best way to find out is to describe what you need and I'll let you know if it's in scope.
MARKETING STRATEGY
-
A marketing strategist helps you figure out the right things to do before you spend time and money doing them. That means understanding your business goals, your audience, your competitive landscape, and your resources, then building a clear plan that connects all of those dots.
I don't just hand you a document and disappear — I help you understand it, own it, and execute it.
-
Ideally, yes. A website built without a marketing strategy is like a storefront built without knowing who your customer is. Even a basic sense of your audience, your message, and your goals will make your website significantly more effective. If you're starting from scratch, I can help you do both in the right order.
-
At an agency, your project is typically managed by an account manager and executed by a team you may never meet, and the price reflects all of that overhead.
When you work with me, you work directly with a senior strategist who also does the work. No layers. No hand-offs. No paying for a team of people you didn't hire. You get more experienced thinking and more personal attention for significantly less investment.
-
Yes! and honestly, this question is one of the reasons I built this business.
Small budgets don't mean small ambitions, and they don't mean you have to settle for less. My job is to help you spend what you have in the smartest possible way. I'll always be honest about what's realistic for your budget and what the highest-leverage places to invest are.
When budgets are tight, we start with what is high priority and most cost effective and I will always provide a “future plan” that you can grow into as your business grows.
-
Yes, through my Performance Boost subscription plans, which start at $300/month. These are designed for business owners who want consistent, senior-level support without committing to a big project. Think of it as having a marketing partner on call every month.
PRICING & PROCESS
-
Almost always by the project. Flat-rate pricing means you know exactly what you're investing before anything starts — no surprise invoices, no scope creep anxiety. For ongoing monthly support, I offer subscription-based pricing. Hourly work is available in limited circumstances for very small or undefined scopes; we'd discuss that upfront.
-
Yes, I typically require a 50% deposit to start the work. The specific structure depends on the project scope and will be outlined clearly in your proposal. This is standard practice for freelance creative work and protects both of us.
-
Reach out and tell me what you're working on. My services page covers my most common offerings, but it's not exhaustive. If it's something I can help with, I'll put together a custom proposal. If it's genuinely outside my wheelhouse, I'll tell you that too — and try to point you in the right direction.
-
That depends on the project, but in general: a sense of your goals, any existing brand assets (logos, colors, fonts), access to the relevant platforms, and your availability for check-ins and feedback.
I'll send you a clear onboarding checklist once we're confirmed so nothing gets missed and nothing stalls.
-
Most projects include three rounds of revisions, which is typically more than enough to get things exactly right. Revisions beyond that are available at an additional cost. I'll always be clear about where we are in the revision process so there are no surprises.
LOCATION & WHO I SERVE
-
I'm based in Boise, Idaho, and I work with clients across the United States. Most of my work is done remotely — discovery calls, check-ins, and approvals all happen virtually, which means location has never been a barrier. Whether you're in Boise or Boston, the experience is the same.
-
My background started in hospitality: wineries, breweries, restaurants, and cafés, and that industry still holds a special place in my work. Over the years I've expanded to support nonprofits, wellness professionals, real estate, service-based businesses, artists, and more. What I specialize in isn't really an industry — it's a type of business owner: the one who cares deeply about what they're building and needs a partner who matches that energy.
-
It's one of the things I'm most passionate about. I built Heather Marie Marketing with women entrepreneurs specifically in mind — the founder who is excellent at what she does but hasn't found a marketing partner who truly gets her vision, her constraints, and her goals. If that's you, you're in exactly the right place.
-
Yes. Nonprofits often have the most important stories to tell and the smallest budgets to tell them with. I understand that tension and I approach nonprofit work with it in mind. If you're a nonprofit looking for website design, branding, or marketing strategy, reach out and let's talk about what's realistic for your organization.
Still have questions?
That's what I'm here for. Reach out and ask — there's no such thing as a question that's too small or too early. The first conversation is always free, always low-pressure, and usually pretty clarifying for both of us.
